KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announced on Wednesday that it will be connecting Bengaluru with Amsterdam with non-stop flights, making the IT capital only the third city in the country to be served by the airline.

The thrice-weekly direct service will be launched on October 31, when the winter schedule kicks in.

These flights will be operated by the Boeing 787-9 aircraft with a capacity of 294 seats, the airline said in a statement. Currently, the airline operates to Delhi and Mumbai.

Restoring capacity

Stepping in to also restore capacity between Amsterdam and Mumbai, a route that was served by its code-share partner Jet Airways, KLM will be adding frequencies to India’s financial capital by operating daily flights from the current thrice-weekly service by October 28 .

“Starting 2nd September 2019, KLM will add one additional frequency between Mumbai and Amsterdam. This will be the fourth frequency on this route.

This will be followed by the fifth frequency effective 30th September. From 28th October 2019, Mumbai-Amsterdam will be flown daily. This route will also be served by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner,” according to a statement from the airline.
